Evolve

This is a new piece I made this week. I believe it corresponds to the e-course I am taking from Kelly Rae Roberts. It is about your art business and doing your best to create an successful online presence. So ‘Evolve’ is a true statement for my art as i use it to try to create a business and correlation with my passion.

Prolific

So the last two weeks have provided a lot of great time create. I packed a small pack of supplies for my trip to San Francisco. There is also a great art store here called Flax.
If I spend to much time in this store I can go to the poor house. It has a great paint selection. The Paper section is fit for a paper addict. I have had a quick trip there this week. I gave myself 15 minutes which was perfect to get exactly what I need a few extras and keep me fiscally in the black.

So I purchased some canvas in board not stretched. They’re so much easier to collage. So this week has been prolific to say the least.

I also went to A Work of Heart. They have open studios. It a treasure trove!!! As well as the home of the 1000 House project. It is Andrea’s personal challenge. She is so wonderful. The interactions with her are always ahh inspiring and proof that nothing ever happens by mistake.
Check back to her website/blog to see the great new surprises that are in the works! I am in the know but can’t tell! I promise it’s great & exciting. She is one of my creative /artist/ woman in busines heroes!!!! She is living the dream and so deserves it.

So now about my art. I made 8 large canvases 10 inch by 10 inch and 4 smaller ones this week. They all have a story of a thought attached. I will posted more of each later.

loveable

Let me start by saying.

That I just HATE drying time!!!!

Yesterday I came to the studio, Pulled out the scrap paper box, a canvas and elmer’s white glue. (okay puriest take your shots now) I didn’t use Goldens. It’s at home!!! So I glued a bunch of paper/card stock to the canvas then left. Waiting for it to dry. Did i say I hate drying time? I know necessary evil but, that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Does it? Ugh!!

So today with a million things to do and a trip planned for tomorrow I show up at the studio to utilize the unhappy office work portion..EWHHH!!! Not work. Yes the work portion.

Well its now 2:30 I finished my collage and haven’t got shit done for work.

All I can think about is packing an art travel kit!!!

So with paint, bubble wrap, fingers (always fingers) pastels oil base water soluable (the best kind) stamps, ink & some pens.

Here it is………

Okay? This was made for Izzy. My friends daughter who has spent the last 10 months in a rehab camp away from home. While she is much better and very ready to come home. I think a long path awaits her. This is only the start of the journey for her.

I want to give this as her homecoming present. So she will always remember that she is “loveable”

This art was inspired by the work of artist KellyRae Roberts. Her books, e courses and blog are all amazing. Her willingness to share her journey so openly and turning courage into action. Her success keeps the dream alive for so many of us. Go buy yourself something, here

Have a good day! Create something.

Presents!!!!!!

It seems like forever since I have been here.. A long year full of life. Some good things but mostly hard life changing thing. I think it is kind of like Spring after a long hard cold winter then you get the pretty little flowers and life blooms again.

Gift Wrap

Gift Wrap

This is the first bit of work I have done in a long time. I used last years paper hand painted & stamped for a class we never used it in. Then a simple bow (okay i retied it a zillion times) . The tag is from my cricket with a Storyteller cartridge with some glitter stock. I am please at the way it came out. I love presents. I think it is exciting to get one but more exciting to get a present that is wrapped beautifully. It’s almost like a present in a present…

2011 San Francisco Decorator Showcase

2011 Decorator Showcase House

As some of you might remember, Last year I was owners On site Rep for the 2010 Showcase house. wow! what an experience it was wild, fast paced fun. I loved it (except when I didn’t)

I contributed to the Silent Auction with Taking Flight Cards. Today i received a very nice letter asking if I again would like to contribute to this years event. can you say YES!!!!. I will be again making card sets for my item..

I am honored that my cards last year sold for $20 a set. There were only 3 cards to each set.. It was SHOCKING to me that they were so expensive. I can not wait to start making cards. I will of course let you all in on the process, what I use and PHOTOS!!! I look forward to donating for the 35th Annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase.

I am already starting to think. I got a new Martha Stewart Cutom stamp Set Kit I am thinking about using it on the back to identify my work & this great blog.

If you are artity & would like to donate you can reach Nancy @ Nancyfudem@aol.com

Send me you card ideas.. Hmmm Maybe some scrapbook pages to enter as well!!!

When you went to heaven you took my heart with you….

I made this Tuesday @ A Work of Heart in San Jose, Ca. It is a really fun to make piece. It turned out that my really old friend was killed not but a few weeks before. So this is what came to mind. “When you went to heaven You took my heart with you!” because it reminded me of the experience of losing him. The techniques:

Some are from the Chicago Retreat (Cloth, Paper Scissors). They are having another one!!!  The backround was paper afixed with Gel matte medium It is from Jane La Fazio’s class. I love this technique of taking pieces of paper & shredding them then arting them up…..

The heart is a carved piece of floral foam. Idea from Kelly Rae Roberts book Taking Flight. We then cover the floral foam & wire wings with plastic cast material. The wings came from the same book But, a differnt project.

I then stenciled the paper with paint & various other stamps , etc….. before attaching the heart with wings to the canvas…
